K9 LUPA

K9 Lupa is continuing to flourish as a Narcotics Detection K9. She gets to travel with her handler to private contracts.

Lupa's Story

Lupa was purchased from a breeding by a couple who were looking for a lazy lab to snuggle on the couch after work and on the weekends. What they didn't realize was she was the product of two accomplished and driven hunting dogs. Early on, they did everything they could to keep Lupa calm and teach her how to relax, but she only grew more and more difficult to manage as a pet. At about a year old, Lupa's owners contacted us. We immediately knew she would make an incredible detection dog. After training her TFR (trained final response), and started shaping her into a detection dog, we saw her soften and become more stable. It was then that our VP, Emily, fell in love with Lupa and decided to pull her for herself. Since then, Emily and Lupa have been developing their working relationship and growing as a Narcotics Detection team.

K9 REX

K9 Rex has joined Howard University Police Department as the university's first-ever working K9. His role as a Firearms and Explosives Detection K9 will be critical in keeping students, staff and visitors safe while on campus.

Rex's Story

Found wandering the streets of Philadelphia at approximately 16 weeks of age, Rex was rescued by Pinelands Unleashed Rescue and evaluated for temperament, environmental stability and working drive. Following his assessment, he was placed with the Snout Scouts. Since entering training, Rex was exposed to a variety of disciplines, including agility, obedience and scent detection. His greatest strength has always been his nose. He demonstrates a slow, methodical and highly systematic search style. He carefully works environments with focus and persistence. Rex's combination of hunt drive, thoughtful search behavior and adaptability make him the perfectly suited to find exactly what the bad guys think they've hidden so well. We are honored to have seen Rex grow into the working K9 he was always meant to be.
